2026 “Homeland Love” Chinese American Spring Festival opens Lunar New Year Celebrations in Southern California

A STAR-STUDDED RED CARPET
On the evening of January 21, the highly anticipated 2026 “Homeland Love” Chinese American Spring Festival, widely followed by the Southern California Chinese community, was held at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. The event officially marked the beginning of Lunar New Year celebrations for Chinese communities across Southern California.

The gala brought together distinguished guests from the political, overseas Chinese, cultural, and business communities. Notable attendees included Irvine Vice Mayor James Mai; the representative of Irvine Mayor Larry Agran, Scott Hong; California State Assemblymember Daine Dixon; California State Senator Tony Strickland; representative of Orange County Supervisor Don Wagner, Saga Conroy and Newport Beach City Councilmember Robyn Grant.

Irvine City Vice Mayor James Mai presented a congratulatory certificate to the organizer, Dongping Huang , president of the American Southern California Economic and cultural Association.

In addition, Ms. Zhou Beijuan from Rome, Italy—the founding president of the Italian Cultural Exchange Association of 金蝶兰the Golden Orchid Cultural International Alliance Organizing Committee—also attended the event, adding a strong touch of international cultural exchange and highlighting the growing international influence of the "Homeland Love" Spring Festival .

A FEAST OF ART, A FUSION OF CULTURES
More than 1,200 guests, including Chinese Americans from across Southern California and friends from diverse sectors, gathered to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one amid music, applause, and festive cheer. The theatre was filled to capacity, and the lively atmosphere reflected a shared sense of cultural pride, community connection, and optimism for the year ahead.

Dunhuang: A Thousand-Year Awakening
Through dance, music, and theatrical performances, the gala showcased the beauty of Chinese culture and conveyed blessings for the upcoming Year of the Horse. One of the evening’s most acclaimed segments was the Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Showcase, which seamlessly integrated traditional arts such as paper-cutting, traditional costumes, embroidery, and face-changing opera. These performances offered overseas audiences a vivid glimpse into China’s long history and rich artistic heritage, allowing traditional culture to shine with renewed contemporary vitality.

One of the highlights of this year's Spring Festival Gala was that, in addition to inviting national-level singers, dancers, and musicians, it also invited mainstream American Hollywood hosts, film stars, singers, and Emmy Award winners to participate, truly realizing Sino-American cultural exchange and the integration of Eastern and Western cultures.

2026 Chinese American Spring Festival VIP reception
In their speeches, representatives from various sectors highly praised the important role that the Homeland Love 2026 Chinese American Spring Festival plays in promoting multicultural exchange and strengthening community cohesion, and extended their sincere New Year greetings to the Chinese community.
The event was further honored by the presence of world-class athletes and Olympic champions, including badminton world champion Lei Zhou(羽毛球世界冠军周雷), Olympic badminton athlete Ying Chen(羽毛球奥运选手陈颖), Olympic ice hockey athlete Wei Wang(冰球奥运选手王薇), and diving world champion Chen Ni(跳水世界冠军倪宸). Their attendance added a powerful spirit of perseverance, excellence, and honor to the celebration.
